Oh, yes, please….for the sunny, warm, radiant, fluffy, cheerful, beautiful spring day it is here in the Old Dowager…she gleams and almost sparkles like a young bride does London on a day like this!

And yes, I saw Mr. Havens preform this one many times, the best was being taken by my aunt to see him in the Village and I kept thinking how was going to break that guitar with every strum upon the strings. Cheers now

This looks cool. Though it was annoying to see the clip open with the classic Mississippi Katrina suffering minimized as straw man for New Orleans suffering. There was a man made disaster in Mississippi, too. There was flooding on the Mississippi Gulf Coast 10-12 miles inland from the coast—a great deal of it because of longstanding development of wetlands. And like in NOLA, many of the poorest, most vulnerable people were living in the lowest lying, most vulnerable locations.

Crushing news today from the Memphis Commercial Appeal: Alex Chilton, the legendary singer, songwriter, and performer, died today. Chilton was in New Orleans and was scheduled to play in Austin this weekend with the reunited Big Star as part of SXSW. According to the paper, he complained of feeling ill and was taken by paramedic to the hospital. Cause of death has not been confirmed, but the Commercial Appeal reports that it is believed to be a heart attack. Chilton was 59. We’ll update with further details when available. Watch: Pomplamoose Cover Lady Gaga - “Telephone”

Ever since becoming one of the 3.5 million people to view Pomplamoose’s jazzy twee version of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” last year, I’ve been glued to the Northern California duo’s YouTube channel. Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn have yet to stumble in their ongoing cover song series in which they’ve taken on the likes of Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson,” and many more. (Conte has even pulled off Radiohead’s “National Anthem” while wearing pajama pants. Pretty twee, right?) I swear if Pomplamoose ever collaborates with the PS22 kids, then never mind the anti-aging cream — you’ll look and feel years younger.

Now they’ve responded to Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s insane “Telephone” video by making the song 10,000 times more listenable. Not to mention this version features “Shameless Product Placement” brand bottled water FTW.

Lovin’ it.
