I’m surprised I’ve never heard this cover before. I feel mixed about it. Buckley’s vocal is excellent but I’m not decided on whether it’s right for the song. The guitar preamble seems just right, though. Will listen to it some more and to some of the other covers that also attempt the impossible of trying to measure up against Billy Holiday’s version of the song. (I think her finest is the original 1939 Milt Gabler recording with Frankie Newton’s band.)
