Either way, somebody I love is fucked
On the one hand, Louisiana is proposing building levees to protect New Orleans and Slidell from storm surges, which will protect my relatives there. On the other hand, the proposed levees will send the same storm surges right over my mom’s town, Pearlington. Lovely.
See also: fucked citizens of Pearlington to be offered low-ball buy-outs. Those that take the buy-outs will be too broke to buy anything anywhere else, those that don’t take the buy-outs will be faced with higher property tax for less services, higher insurance, and the aforementioned storm surges funneled from Louisiana.
