New Orleans History – Lake Pontchartrain
“Of the hundreds of camps once lining the New Orleans lakeshore from West End to Paris Road none remain after Hurricane Katrina. This website is an attempt to document the history of the New Orleans Lakefront Camps.”
One summer one of my aunts had a camp like this one over Lake Pontchartrain. I was maybe six. She caught a catfish. She smashed its head in with a mallet on the wooden deck. I almost puked. I was a sensitive kid.
