This seems to apply across the board. We are eco “terrorists” while abortion clinic bombers are not?

impact of bush v gore on public opinions of the...
abbyjean:
Nine years after the U.S. Supreme Court stopped the counting of ballots in Florida, its decision in Bush v. Gore appears to have had some lasting impact on how the public views the justices.
A new poll from C-SPAN asked voters whether the ruling affected their view of the Court. A substantial minority, 29 percent, said that the ruling did. And not surprisingly, those who said so saw...

Jay Farrar to Release Woody Guthrie Album, Feat....
I’ve been excited about this news and thank twentyfourbit for making me aware of it!
One quibble: This forthcoming record probably should not be viewed as a third installment of the Mermaid Avenue series. There have been two other major releases of previously unrecorded Guthrie lyrics since the Mermaid Avenue records.

Census Worker Found Hanged →
langer:
The important thing to remember here, of course, is that Nancy Pelosi must be living “in another world” when she suggests all this anti-government rhetoric could lead to violence:
WASHINGTON — A U.S. Census worker found hanged from a tree near a Kentucky cemetery had the word “fed” scrawled on his chest, a law enforcement official said Wednesday, and the FBI is investigating whether he...

What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square... →
At this stage everyone knows that Marshmallow Fluff was invented in 1917 right here in Union Square. We first celebrated the genius of Fluff creator Archibald Query in a tribute in 2006 on Union Square Plaza in Somerville. Artists, musical and theatrical performers, inventors, and humorists and well over 1000 other people paid yummy homage to this great American foodstuff.
Tom Waits Preps Glitter & Doom Live LP
twentyfourbit:
The baker’s dozen of dates on Tom Waits’ Glitter & Doom tour didn’t include much love for the left and right coasts, but, thankfully, we’re all getting a taste of what went down, aside from the usual shaky YouTube bootlegs. Photographer Michael T. Regan has leaked the news that Waits is preparing to release Tom Waits: Glitter & Doom Live on 12” vinyl and likely other...

Rolling Stone Finds A Smoking Gun: Betsy McCaughey... →
You remember Betsy McCaughey, don’t you? She’s the right wing hack who propagated a purposely misleading article in The Atlantic that was used to torpedo the Clinton health plan, and more recently the author of the “death panels” lie.
Well, Rolling Stone’s Tim Dickinson has a hell of a scoop in their Oct. 1 issue in an article called “The Lie Machine: The...

Hebrew Crunk It’s that time of year again… Happy new year for the jews! It’s become tradition to post this Rosh Hashana cartoon every year. At this point, however, Lil’ Jon is so far in the past that it’s become ironically retro.
